Teen Health Center FAQ
Can my child receive medical treatment without my consent?
Parental consent is required for your student to be seen for most services. However, Michigan Law does allow the Teen Health Center to provide the following services to students aged 14 and older, without parental consent:
• STI screening and treatment
• Pregnancy testing
• Counseling for Behavioral Health and substance abuse
Do you dispense birth control or contraceptives?
State Law prohibits us from prescribing or dispensing birth control or contraceptives because we are on school property. The Teen Health Center will not prescribe or dispense birth control or contraceptives and will not offer abortion counseling or referrals.
Are the services at the Teen Health Center free?
No. The Teen Health Center does accept and bill Medicaid and other health insurances for most services. Sliding Fee Scale is also available.
What do I need to do for my child to utilize the services at the Teen Health Center?
We ask that you complete a parental consent and health history form to allow your child access to all healthcare services.
