Monika is glad to be able to give back to her school community because she loves working with people and helping others. Being part of a close family that includes her parents, three brothers, one sister and her daughter, her goal is to not only help the students, but encourage parents to be more proactive in their student’s overall health.  The amazing success stories she has had opportunity to be witness to at the Teen Health Center gives her job meaning and purpose due to the fact that teens are being responsible for their health and seeking help for their healthcare needs.

In her spare time Monika enjoys spending time with family, skyping, tweeting, and she absolutely LOVES shopping!

“As a child, my mother was a high school teacher and eventually became the counselor of the high school I attended. Because of this, I basically grew up in the high school and was always around students. As I matured into an adult, I found a love of helping people and improving smiles. When I heard that Hackley Community Care (for whom I am employed) and Muskegon High School was opening a dental clinic at the Teen Health Center, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to mix healing and high school! I very much look forward to meeting everyone at the high school”.

Lindsey Bolduc, RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist), joined Hackley Community Care Center in October 2010. Lindsey is the Dental Hygienist at the Teen Health Center at Muskegon High School. Kathi is thankful to her parents for teaching her and her siblings the importance of serving others at an early age by volunteering in various capacities in their community. The Teen Health Center opens new opportunities for her to be involved in this exciting service which meets the needs of teens in their social environment without the barriers of transportation or finances.

“I feel teens have a lot to offer. They are our future and have so much potential to fulfill their dreams. I want to make a difference in their lives early on with education in lifestyle changes that can lead to prevention of chronic diseases, help build their self- esteem and identify psychosocial issues that could be addressed with our behavioral health services”. Kathi also wants parental involvement in the education and prevention of common childhood illnesses and healthy nutritional choices. “The Teen Health Center is not here to only treat sexually transmitted diseases. We are here to discuss what is going on in the lives of our teens and provide a treatment plan that will prevent various health issues and chronic illnesses”.

Jamie grew up in Lansing, MI and joined Hackley Community Care Center in April 2007 because she felt passionate about helping the patients in this community. She joined the Teen Health Center staff in January 2012. “I have always loved working with adolescents because I enjoy the interaction and challenge of educating them on health related concerns and helping them with any issues they may have. Being at the Teen Health center, I get to spend a little more time talking to the student about things they can do to protect themselves and keep themselves healthier”.

Jamie is looking forward to meeting each adolescent that frequents the Teen Health Center for services and wants to be able to mingle within the high school environment providing health education via bulletin boards and group interactions. She is open to ideas that students may have for activities pertaining to their health. “I really want students will feel comfortable and welcome when they see me at the Teen Health Center. I hope that we can form a relationship where they are comfortable being open and honest with me about anything they may want to discuss. I want them to know they are being listened to”.

When she is not busy taking care of the patients in our community, Jamie likes to spend her free time reading, boating/beach outings, and sports (basketball and softball). Jamie is married and they are blessed with one son that she says keeps her on her toes!
